Hall of Fame Inductees U2 – vocalist Bono (born Paul Hewson), guitarist the Edge (Dave Evans), bass player Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. – formed at Mount Temple School in Dublin in 1976. The four originally dubbed themselves Feedback, then later the Hype. On St. Patrick's Day in 1978, the Hype – now calling themselves U2 – traveled from Dublin to the city of Limerick in the midwest of Ireland to perform at a talent contest sponsored in part by CBS Records and Guinness. U2’s three-song performance won first prize, including a trophy that's part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's U2 Featured Collection, £500 and a demo recording session. That session led to the group's EP called U2-3.

Video: Interview with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart
The 2013 class of Hall of Fame inductees was announced at a press conference on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Among the inductees on hand during the conference were Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, who sat down with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to share what it was like learning they were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their influences – including Hall of Fame inductees Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Elton John, Aretha Franklin and Paul Simon – and the importance of preserving this music at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
Behind the Scenes: Rage Against the Machine's Tour Van
Recently, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut self-titled album's release, donated the 1985 Chevy Astro van that he and his bandmates used as a tour vehicle in the earliest days of their career. Set to go on exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, in early 2013, the Rock Hall's curatorial team got a first look at the van and its contents in preparation of it being exhibited.
In a letter to the Rock Hall's curatorial department, Tom Morello wrote:
"Rage toured with this vehicle from 1991-1993, opening for Pearl Jam, Public Enemy and Ice T, and countless shows of our own. From desperate escapes from Tijuana to fomenting riots in Bakersfield, the Astro was always there. Rock Hall Sessions: Interview with Bethesda
Although Bethesda is an Ohio-bred band whose homespun tales and sounds are grounded in the folk tradition, the members' ecletic musical backgrounds, creative energy and flair for the dramatic ensure that they're never beholden to the trappings of one particular style. Instead, the group's core of musicians – violinist Christopher Black, bassist Dan Corby, vocalist Shanna Delaney, guitarist/vocalist Eric Ling, drummer Justin Rife and guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist Jesse Sloan – have cultivated a refreshingly vibrant sound that has made them a band to watch. As their name not-so subtly suggests, Hollywood Undead emerged from the music scene in Tinseltown, combining elements of hip-hop and hardcore in a sound they call "heavy pop." The first incarnation of the band took shape in 2005, and evolved into the six mask-wearing musicians that compose Hollywood Undead today: Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Charlie Scene, Da Kurlzz, Funny Man and Daniel "Danny" Murillo.

Sean Foreman and Nathaniel 'Nat' Motte got their start in Colorado, the former crafting humorous lyrics with a flow born of his admiration for underground hip-hop, while the latter spent hours at his computer developing beats and samples. With influences that include Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin and Bruce Springsteen, it's no surprise that Neon Trees deliver a hook-laden New Wave sound with a hard hitting rock and roll backbone. Lead vocalist and keyboardist Tyler Glenn and guitarist Chris Allen first started playing together as the Neon Trees in their native Southern California in 2005.
