Get ready to rock the Hall during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s 15th Anniversary Celebration Weekend!
The weekend will kick off at the Museum on Thursday, September 2 with the Leo M. Mintz Gallery dedication in the Architects of Rock and Roll exhibit, and culminate with the party of the year, Rock Hall Ball, on Friday, September 3.
On Thursday, September 2, at 10:30 a.m. the Leo M. Mintz Gallery will be dedicated in the Museum’s Architects of Rock and Roll exhibit. Mintz, the owner of Cleveland’s Record Rendezvous, was instrumental in the early promotion of rock and roll and is widely credited with urging Alan Freed to introduce the music to a broader audience. The Friday night Rock Hall Ball Anniversary Celebration will also mark the grand public opening of the Leo M. Mintz Gallery.
On Friday, September 3, the Rock Hall Ball will feature live bands and DJs will perform throughout thenight, including DJ Tommie Sunshine and alternative rock band Foxy Shazam. A special VIP pre-party will honor Ohio Senator George V. Voinovich for his efforts in bringing the Rock Hall to Cleveland and his continued support of the Museum. Cleveland's own Alex Bevan will perform live at the Rock Hall on the Main Stage on Saturday, September 4th at 2 p.m. Singer/songwriter Bevan began his career in music nearly 40 years ago while working in bars, colleges and coffeehouses in his home of Northeast Ohio. Between 1971-1976, Bevan was the supporting act for artists like Billy Joel and Jimmy Buffett on their concerts through Cleveland. Alex will preview a few songs from his new recording “Fly Away” which is scheduled for late September release as well as some vintage material that has made him a popular local folk musician.buy tickets
