Hall of Fame Series with the Family Stone

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Original members of Sly and the Family Stone Cynthia Robinson (trumpet), Greg Errico (drums) and Jerry Martini (sax) were interviewed by Meredith Rutledge, associate curator at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum on Friday, June 20, 2014. As rock’s first integrated, multi-gender band, Sly and the Family Stone became funky Pied Pipers to the Woodstock Generation, synthesizing rock, soul, R&B, funk and psychedelia into danceable, message-laden, high-energy music. In promoting their gospel of tolerance and celebration of differences, Sly and the Family Stone brought disparate audiences together during the latter half of the Sixties.
