Perhaps one of the most emotionally wrenching Induction ceremonies occured in 2007. Ahmet Ertegun, Chairman and Founding Father of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had passed away in December 2006 and an emotional Jann Wenner spoke eloquently about his colleague. Aretha Franklin's magnificent voice helped ease pain, as she sang "I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You," the perfect eulogy for her champion at Altantic Records. The late James Brown's life was also celebrated, with a rousing speech by the Reverend Al Sharpton.
The night was full of emotion and energy as hip-hop pioneers, Grandmaster and the Furious Five, R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith and Van Halen were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
