Ginger Baker was born.

Jack Bruce was born.

Eric Clapton was born.

1966

Eric Clapton (late of the Yardbirds), Jack Bruce (Manfred Mann, Graham Bond Organization) and Ginger Baker (Graham Bond Organization) form a blues-based power trio named Cream.

1966

Ahmet Ertegun signs the English group Cream. Atlantic will become a major force in British rock, releasing albums by such artists as the Bee Gees, Mott the Hoople, Yes, Genesis, Derek and the Dominos, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Led Zeppelin.

1966

Hendrix jams with Cream at the Regent Polytechnic College.

1967

Cream’s second album, ‘Disraeli Gears’, enters the U.S. charts.

1968

Cream hits #5 with “Sunshine of Your Love”.

1968

Cream plays their farewell concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

1983

Felix Pappalardi of Mountain and Cream, is shot and killed by his wife.

1993

Cream is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
