Rockin’ the Schools
Educational K-12 Level Programs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
The education department at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is proud to announce our 2007-2008 offerings for our unique K-12 level interdisciplinary educational programs called Rockin’ the Schools. These exciting programs include an interactive class of approximately one hour, the opportunity to tour related museum exhibits, and materials for teachers to extend learning before and after the museum visit. The classes are held in the Museum’s media equipped fourth floor theater.
Each class engages students in actively exploring the history of rock and roll, while meeting and exceeding Ohio Academic Content Standards for learning in the arts and other core subject areas. The Museum’s award-winning educators involve students in exploring topics in music, language arts, social studies, science, and technology through live demonstrations, musical examples, video excerpts, and multimedia presentations. To support educators’ efforts to integrate the program into their curriculum, this website provides Pre-Visit Guides, related standards, and descriptions for each class, as well as scheduling information. At the time of the program, teachers receive an educational packet for post-visit use.
The programs are available to Northeast Ohio schools at no cost. In addition to touring the museum regional groups can participate in the Rockin’ the Schools educational programs for a minimal fee. So if you’re planning to take one field trip with your class or school this year, make it the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum!
