Graduate Credit Registration
Optional graduate credit (two semester hours) is available through Ashland University for an additional cost. Participants who register for the 2009 Summer Teacher Institute and hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent from an accredited university or college are eligible to enroll for graduate credit. Each participant who enrolls for graduate credit is required to 1) attend all sessions of the Institute and 2) satisfactorily complete the assignments in order to earn the two credit hours. Registration for graduate credit is confirmed by Ashland University upon receipt of the completed form and payment (payable to Ashland University). Graduate Credit Fees
Residents of Ohio receive a $100 discount for the cost of registering for the optional graduate credits (two semester hours):
$500 for 2 graduate credits (residents outside Ohio)
$400 for 2 graduate credits (Ohio residents only)
Registering for Graduate Credit
1) Complete the required STI Registration Form, HERE (link to the following: http://www.rockhall.com/forms/summer-teacher-institute/registration) making sure to select YES for optional graduate credit and include your email address; submit the form and payment of $250 (payable to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum).
2) An email from the Rock Hall will confirm your registration and provide information for completing graduate credit registration and payment for Ashland University.
3) A representative from Ashland University will be present on June 23 to register anyone who would like AU credit. More information about AU credit may be found here.
Graduate Credit Assignments 2008
• Graduate credit assignments are due Friday, July 23, 2009.
• Grades of pass/fail are awarded.
• Final grades will come directly from Ashland University.
• Description of assignments:
- I. Essay. In 2-3 well-organized double spaced pages that represent your best writing, summarize the outcomes of your participation in the Summer Teacher Institute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. What goals for learning did you pursue during the Institute, and how did you contribute to conversations about popular music? How has your participation better prepared you to integrate popular music into your curriculum? Cite any references you may choose to mention.
II. Lesson Plan. Develop an original lesson plan or unit plan that integrates popular music in your curriculum. Use the attached lesson plan format. Please be aware that you must develop a lesson with content that differs substantially from lessons distributed at the Institute or on the website of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
