Rock and Roll Stories:  Words, Sounds, and Lives
Friday, October 12, 2007
9:00am – 3:30pm at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum educators to learn successful instructional strategies that integrate popular music across the K-12 disciplines and deepen students’ engagement in the classroom.  This workshop highlights Museum resources for exploring stories conveyed in rock and roll.  See how artists connect words and musical sounds—bringing stories to life with poetic imagery, narrative elements, historical commentary, and varied instruments.  Discover how the language arts, music, and history intersect in rock and roll, from its roots to its current incarnations.

Experienced educators will demonstrate how they transform lessons with popular music and lead participants in developing lesson plans for their own use.  Museum resources will be made available, including materials from the innovative K-12 educational programs on popular music that address state standards for learning in Language Arts, Social Studies, Music, and Technology.  Special presenters will augment the Education Staff in leading the day’s sessions.
