Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Public Spaces

The 41,000-square-foot plaza in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum serves as a meeting place of rock fans from around the world as well as an outdoor arena for musical performances. The plaza is composed of an open area for public events, architectural planters with adjacent benches, and flagpoles. The materials for the plaza have been selected to complement existing paving materials at North Coast Harbor and consists of beige brick pavers with architectural concrete and granite accent strips.

Wide granite steps, from the corner of Erieside and East Ninth Street, provide pedestrian access to the plaza. A large central planter with a raised area for temporary staging can accommodate impromptu performances. Additional moveable seating on the plaza will make it possible to seat as many as five hundred or more people facing “the stage.”

At the west side of the plaza, a grand stair descends to North Coast Harbor’s promenade. This stair is constructed of material to match the architectural elements at the base of the building and the plaza.
