22nd Annual Tri-C® High School Rock Off Returns to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum!

CLEVELAND, OH– Live Nation is proud to announce the 22nd Annual Tri-C® High School Rock Off will once again take place at the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The Rock Hall and The Rock Off are celebrating our 22nd anniversary!
The Live Nation Cleveland office is accepting entry forms now through December 8, 2017. The annual battle of the High School bands and musicians is presented by Live Nation, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®), Scene Magazine, Fox 8, 96.5 KISS FM, 100.7 WMMS and iHeart Media. Once again, all High School Rock Off tickets will include admission to the Rock Hall and access to its newest exhibits including the new Inductee Exhibit, Rolling Stone: 50 Years and the all-new Power of Rock Experience in the Connor Theater.
2018 participating sponsors include School of Rock, Jim Stewart Recording, House of Blues Cleveland, Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, The Grog Shop, Musica, Quicken Loans Arena and their championship teams The CAVS, The Monsters and The Gladiators!

The partnership with Live Nation and the Rock Hall gives Tri-C students the opportunity to connect with artists and professionals in many meaningful and productive ways.”
New this year will be the support of 4 of the most important music clubs in Ohio and in America for that matter. All of the participating bands will have access to the bookers and marketing directors at House of Blues Cleveland, The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern, The Grog Shop and Musica! Having this “Incubator Relationship” through Live Nation and The Rock Off will give your band the inside track to book showcases or have a CD Release party with Rock Off “Alumni Bands” currently playing in and around Northeast Ohio or with current Rock Off bands at these venues. All of these great clubs will be providing judges throughout the Rock Off. This will provide these bands and solo artist’s tremendous feedback on performance and guidance as they start on their musical journey.

A portion of the proceeds from the Tri-C® High School Rock Off will support the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s educational activities which are among the most celebrated in the nation, reaching more than 50,000 students, adults and educators each year. Educational onsite programs like Toddlers Rockin’ the Schools and programs through its Digital Classroom are designed to offer fans of all ages a deeper understanding of the cultural impact that rock and roll has made. Additionally, numerous artists and musicians come to the Rock Hall each year to be part of panel discussions, to perform, meet with fans and show their support. HOW TO ENTER THE ROCK OFF!
All genres of high school bands and musicians are welcome to enter. Interested performers can secure 2018 Rock Off entry forms online at www.rockhall.com/rockoff.
Entry Forms are also available by calling the Live Nation Cleveland office at 216-912-4925. Performers must complete and send the Rock Off application along with a two-song demo of your music via www.soundcloud.com/high-school-rock-off or compact disc (CD) along with a $60 entry fee in a check or money order payable to Live Nation; please do not send cash. All performers must be enrolled in grade 12 or lower at the time of the competition to be eligible and at least half of the band members must be high school students. Registration fees will be refunded in full to performers not selected.
All entry forms, demos and registration fees must be mailed to Live Nation, 44 North Main Street, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022 or hand delivered to Live Nation, 10 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022. Deadline to enter is Friday, December 8, 2017 at 5:00 PM.
Bands selected will play a 15 minute set during the Rock Off semifinal rounds at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. During each of the Rock Off rounds, three bands will be selected by a panel of judges to move on to “The Final Exam.” All finalists will record one original song at Tri-C’s Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts, which will be produced by Jim Stewart Recording and students from Tri-C’s Recording Arts program. These songs will be available as free downloads on www.rockhall.com/rockoff at the time of The Final Exam.
WHAT YOU WILL WIN!
All of the prize money is compliments of the local School of Rock franchise. The winning band will receive $1,000 cash and $250 for their high school music program. Second place will receive $250 cash and $100 for their high school music program and third place will receive $100 cash.
The winning band will also receive the opportunity to perform at the 2018 Vans Warped Tour at Blossom Music Center and at The Rock Hall’s annual Summer in the City program on the new Rock Hall Plaza Stage. One of the finalists will also be selected to perform next summer at Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland.
But wait, there’s more! This year the Rock Hall Induction’s will take place in Cleveland and the winning bands will be invited to perform at special functions produced by The Rock Hall during induction week. This will be an amazing time for you and your band!
HIGH SCHOOL ROCK OFF ART WORK CONTEST
Live Nation would like to invite all Northern Ohio high school graphic artists to create this year’s design for the official High School Rock Off downloadable CD cover artwork, the official Rock Off T-Shirt and poster sold at the 2017 Rock Off. The downloadable artwork will be housed online at www.rockhall.com/rockoff. We will select one CD cover winner, one T- Shirt design winner and one poster design winner. Each of these winners selected will receive $100 in cash compliments of School of Rock. Art entries, with completed artwork release forms, must be submitted to the above Live Nation address or emailed to Anna Bross at [email protected] by Friday, December 1, 2017 at 5pm.
Acceptable file formats for all entries are jpg, tif, pdf, eps or psd and all fonts must be outlined. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum logo or trademark cannot be used in the design. CD cover graphic must be 5”x 5” at 300dpi for downloadable, printable version that can fit into a CD jewel case. T-shirt graphic must be 14”x20” with a maximum of 3 or 4 colors used and at 300dpi. The Poster must be 11”x17” full color with a 1/8” edge and at 300dpi.
Once Rock Off tickets will be available to purchase for $10.00 from the participating Rock Off performers after the band selection process in December. The concerts at the Rock Hall are open to all ages and your ticket to the Rock Off includes admission to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and its exhibits on performance days. The Rock Hall hours will coincide with the Rock Off performance times!
