Lamont Dozier

In Memoriam

1990 Inductee Lamont Dozier, of the legendary songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland, helped create Motown’s “Sound of Young America” through his studio production work and the creation of massive hits that moved the heart and soul of fans around the world. His songs blended the fervor of gospel and R&B with the power of pop melodies for artists like Marvin Gaye, Martha and the Vandellas, The Miracles and The Supremes. Dozier continued making hits with musicians such as Jon Anderson, Phil Collins, Simply Red and Boy George and his music will live forever as some of the best rock and roll songs ever written.
