Celebrate Earth Day with Rock Hall EDU’s Rock & Roll and The Environment Collection

Spark your student’s passion for the planet with inspiration from Inductees

In celebration of Earth Day, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s award-winning Education team has launched a Rock & Roll and The Environment Collection as part of the online education platform, Rock Hall EDU.
The collection highlights a variety of artists whose passion for the planet permeates every syllable of their songs.

Music as a form of protest and advocacy is not a new concept to rock & roll. Teachers, parents, and guardians can explore the new collection and help their students understand how artists use music to share their passion for change.

The collection includes a “Paving Paradise with Parking Lots” activity to help students examine the songs of Rock Hall Inductees advocating for environmental protection and progress, a playlist of Inductee songs expressing hope that the climate crisis can be cleared up and more.

Rock Hall Director of Education, Mandy Smith, has a chance to see the Earth from outer space and add to the ever-growing list of Rock Hall EDU resources.

Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese entrepreneur, is offering eight tickets on the first ever civilian mission to the moon to those who can do something amazing with it. If selected, Mandy plans to educate Rock Hall EDU’s 1 Million students from space by creating a Girls with Guitars in Space collection. Learn more here.

Teachers and parents can create a free account at Rock Hall EDU (rockhall.com/education) to explore and download resources developed by our award-winning education team. You’ll find professionally developed lesson plans, activities and downloadable activity sheets, presentations, videos, playlists, writing prompts and more to engage students in the power of rock & roll as they learn about history, language arts, science, math and, of course, music. All materials meet national and state learning standards.
