With members from Mott the Hoople, King Crimson and Free, and signed to Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song imprint, Bad Company were one of rock’s first and most successful supergroups, both live and on record. By combining arena-ready blues-rock swagger with Top 40 hits, they distinguished themselves from their peers. The foursome’s straightforward, no-frills approach inspired rockers to embrace melody over bombast, songs over jams, tight, short solos and unforgettable choruses.

Impact

Bad Company’s stuff sticks to your ribs; you hum along to not just the song but the solos. The band all had one vision and it worked together.

Signature Sound

Arena-ready Melodic Blues Rock

Bad Company began in ’74 as melodic, riff-heavy rock, incorporating glam, metal and pop in a way no band had before. By ‘75, they’d evolved into unparalleled power balladeers, combining sensitive romance with head-banging choruses. In ‘79, they incorporated synthesizers and held their own with disco and new wave.
