Born Ernest Evans in Spring Gully, South Carolina, **Chubby Checker became the king of the ‘60s dance crazes,** with his iconic “The Twist” reaching the No. 1 spot twice and sparking a worldwide, multigenerational phenomenon. Checker parlayed that unprecedented success into further hits like “The Fly” and “Limbo Rock,” hitting the charts 32 times before ‘66. He broadened rock & roll’s audience beyond teenagers and remained active into the new millennium.

This is the signature that appears on the inductee’s plaque at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to officially commemorate their induction.
