PNC Bank to Award High School Rock Off Senior Participants with TRI-C® Scholarships

CLEVELAND – Nov. 29, 2017 – Live Nation is proud to announce the 22nd Annual Tri-C® High School Rock Off will once again take place at the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

This year, high school seniors will have the opportunity to apply for three PNC Bank scholarships to the Cuyahoga Community College Gill and Tommy LiPuma Center for Performing Arts.

The Live Nation Cleveland office is accepting Rock Off entry forms now through Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. The annual battle of the high school bands and musicians is presented by Live Nation, Tri-C, PNC, Scene Magazine, Fox 8, 96.5 KISS FM, 100.7 WMMS, and iHeart Media. All High School Rock Off tickets will include admission to the Rock Hall and access to its newest exhibits, including the new Inductee Exhibit, Rolling Stone: 50 Years, the all-new Power of Rock Experience in the Connor Theater, and Say it Loud.

“High School Rock Off is an incredible opportunity to showcase the talent of all these young artists,” says Greg Harris, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Rock Off alumni have launched successful music careers, and we’re providing opportunities for them to perform live at the Rock Hall and during the celebrations around the induction ceremony’s return to Cleveland in April 2018.”

PNC Bank will help three participating high school seniors launch their careers in music by providing scholarships of up to $2,000 to Tri-C.

“Arts and music transcend boundaries and bring people together in unique ways,” said Paul Clark, PNC regional president of Cleveland. “These scholarships will help students who excel musically to sharpen their talents, which they can use to boost their careers and further enhance our community.”

“These scholarships will help create an unparalleled opportunity for Tri-C to help students who have competed in the Rock Off to jumpstart their careers in music performance, marketing, promotion and recording technology,” said David Kennedy, director of Tri-C’s Recording Arts and Technology program. “We help focus their passion and provide training, degrees and job opportunities. Rock Off alumni work in the music industry, in recording studios, in concert halls and arenas, on tour, in equipment manufacturing, in broadcasting, in marketing and promotion, at the Rock Hall, at the House of Blues, and with Live Nation. The partnership gives Tri-C students the opportunity to connect with artists and professionals in many meaningful and productive ways.”

  1. will have access to the teams at House of Blues Cleveland, The Beachland Ballroom, The Grog Shop and Musica, giving them the inside track to book showcases or have a CD release party with other Rock Off bands at these venues. Judges from these venues will give feedback on performances and possible guidance to begin the musical journey.
