Rock Hall Live! Music, Food & Fun All Summer Long on the Rock Hall Plaza

Featuring more than 50 live concerts, shows and events, themed happy hours, food from Cleveland’s hottest chefs, motorcycle parking and more

Get ready to rock all summer long! With more than 50 live concerts, shows, events, themed happy hours in the beer garden, specialty food from the hottest chefs in Cleveland and added motorcycle parking, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and its redesigned plaza is the place to be this summer.

The 2017 Rock Hall Live! line-up of summer fun features:


The Rock Hall plaza has a vibrant music scene featuring local and national acts. On July 22, fans can enjoy a day of live music, beer and barbecue featuring acclaimed alternative country-rockers Drive-By Truckers with the Seratones.

Drive-By Truckers’ 2016 release American Band is a powerful work speaking on pressing issues such as race, income inequality, the NRA, deregulation, police brutality, Islamophobia, and the plague of suicides and opioid abuse. American Band serves as a tightly focused snapshot of today’s America, an illustration of rock ‘n’ roll as a vehicle for social commentary. Tickets and VIP packages go on sale June 1 at or at the Rock Hall box office. Additional lineup, ticket and VIP package details will be announced at a later date.

Back by popular demand is the free Summer in the City concert series, running July through August, with some of the top bands in Cleveland. Concerts are free and start at 6 p.m. on the seasonal outdoor stage (rain location inside on the Klipsch Audio Main Stage). The Summer in the City concert series is presented by Great Lakes Brewing Company, Fat Head’s Brewery, and Magic Hat Brewing Company.

Bring the entire family down for plaza events throughout the summer. A few of the free events on the outdoor main stage include:

  • June 3: Hungry for Music – music instrument drive that benefits local kids
  • June 7: Prince Day – celebrating the artist’s legacy with DJs, air guitar contest, and more
  • July 1: U2 Tailgate – pre-show happy hour to get fans ready for the concert at First Energy Stadium
  • July 16: Alternative Press Fan Fest – an outlet for fans of the best alternative bands around
  • Aug. 5: Partner of the Latino Arts & Culture Celebration & Puerto Rican Parade - stop by for some Latin music before heading to Voinovich Park for the festivities
  • Aug. 19: Uganda Kids’ Choir – learn about the oldest roots of rock and roll with a celebration of African music

Other events and activities include the Rock Hall Half Marathon (Aug. 20), Yestival programming, Annual Believe in Cleveland Yoga event, partner running races and more. Additional events will be announced in the coming weeks on While attending an event, don’t forget to stop inside the Rock Hall for trivia, live demonstrations, “name that riff” contests, film screenings, and other great programs to enhance your visit.


Opening July 1 is the new Power of Rock Signature Experience in the Connor Theater. Be front row for 32 years of induction ceremonies. When it opens, Connor Theater will host an epic signature Hall of Fame experience featuring arena-quality sound, larger-than-life-video screens and fan interactivity. Visitors will feel every beat, hear every chord and be wowed by a powerful film of incredible induction moments directed by Academy Award winning director Jonathan Demme, as one of his last projects.

Other new exhibits at the Rock Hall this summer include the 2017 Inductee exhibit and Rolling Stone Magazine / 50 Years. Returning to the Plaza this summer is J.C. Unit One, Johnny Cash’s beloved touring bus, which visitors can tour with a Rock Hall admission ticket). Local residents can take advantage of a discount to the Rock Hall by showing their ID at the box office.


In addition to live music, concert-goers and visitors can come together to get the party started at rock and roll-themed happy hours in the new outdoor beer garden featuring live music, trivia and craft beers from Great Lakes Brewing Company, Fat Head’s Brewery and Magic Hat Brewing Company. Happy Hours are on Tuesday and Thursdays in August from 4-6 p.m. Visit to stay up-to-date with additional musicians and details as they are announced.


Those looking for a bite to eat can enjoy specialty items, a gourmet coffee bar, and grab-and-go food from the Rock Hall and Aramark’s new food and wine trucks on the plaza, and redesigned indoor café featuring items from Cleveland’s hottest chefs Michael Symon, Rocco Whalen, Fabio Salerno, and Jonathan Sawyer.


As the summer revs up, other new additions to the Rock Hall plaza include dedicated motorcycle parking, added indoor and outdoor seating, free wifi, Rock Box tunes, photo opportunities with the newly added “Long Live Rock” art installation, and new rock and roll merchandise in the renovated FYE store inside the Rock Hall.
