Rock On TV: Norma Coates on Shindig and Hullabaloo
Dr. Norma Coates joins the Rock Hall in support of our special Rock On TV exhibit to discuss Shindig and Hullabaloo.
Dr. Coates will lecture fans about television's earliest musical shows, including Shindig and Hullabaloo, both of which are featured inside the museum's newest special exhibit, Stay Tuned: Rock on TV. This event is free to the public with an RSVP and will be held in the Foster Theater beginning at 7pm.

Norma Coates is an Associate Professor who holds a joint appointment in the Don Wright Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. Her research focuses on two area areas: popular music and identity, particular gender, age, and the intersection of both; and popular music on US network television before MTV. Her articles are published internationally in leading anthologies and journals, and she presents her work at conferences around the world. Dr. Coates has served as an officer of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music-US branch and serves on the editorial board of its journal. She is currently completing a book about popular music on US television before MTV to be published by Duke University Press.
