BUT $45 will get you admission to a Friday concert as well as the Museum after 5pm on that same day. That’s 3 hours kickin' it at our Museum and then an awesome show.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five became the first hip hop group ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Flash is the first DJ to ever receive that honor.

Few names have become as well known to music lovers across the globe as that of Grandmaster Flash. Not only is he one of the originators of the musical genre called Hip-Hop and a worldwide musical cultural phenomenon, but his pioneering use of the turntables make him the first DJ to play the turntables as a musical instrument thus helping to elevate the status of the DJ to a masterful, artistic position. He was scientifically inventing and demonstrating such methods and concepts he collectively called “The Quick Mix Theory” which encompassed the innovative technique of “Cutting”, eventually laying the foundations for what became known as “Scratching”, “Transforming” and the first to use his fingertips for vinyl techniques. His career has extended from the Bronx in the early 1970s to all corners of the globe to the present date.

On top of his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Flash has been the recipient of many awards, including Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award; VH1 Hip Hop Honors; The Icon Award from BET in honor of his contribution to Hip Hop as a DJ; The Lifetime Achievement Award from the RIAA; Bill Gates’ Vanguard Award; International Award – Polar Music Prize; Global Spin Awards Lifetime Achievement Award; The Bronx Walk of Fame and The Rock Walk Award. Other accomplishments include appearances in Wild Style The Movie, Yo MTV Raps, BET Jam Master Jay Honors; coined the phrase “Beat Box” and film consultant, music director and role reenactment in the Netflix film, “The Get Down”. Future projects include an A&E documentary called “The Secret Origins of Hip Hop”; a Grandmaster Flash action figure, NFTs and adventures in the Metaverse.

Grandmaster Flash continues to tour the world, in festivals, clubs and venues. He now has his eyes and ears on this new craze-dance music, which he now adds to his legendary repertoire.
