Al Rex of Bill Haley and His Comets

Remembering Al Rex

1928 - 2020

Inductee Al Rex took us on one of rock & roll’s earliest rides with his driving, percussive bass in Bill Haley & His Comets and their earlier incarnation The Saddlemen. Mixing western swing and R&B, Rex's upbeat slap propelled the bands’ pioneering versions of songs like "Rocket 88" and later classics like "R-O-C-K" and "See You Later, Alligator."
